Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (PANA) - Emphasizing that the entry of rebel elements to Bangui and their subsequent seizure of power constitute a flagrant violation of the AU Constitutive Act, the Lomé Declaration on Unconstitutional Changes of Government and the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance, the AU Monday suspended the Central African Republic (CAR) after the Seleka rebels seized power following a blitz on the capital, Bangui, over the weekend, ousting President Francoise Bozize.
