Egyptians ousted from fencing tourney

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - There are no more Egyptians featuring in the men's fencing tourney at the ongoing Olympic Games of Athens in Greece, after the best of the country's three representatives were ousted during the second round Monday.

Mostafa Anwar was ousted from the first round by Venezuela's Carlos Eduardo Rodriguez 15-7, while his compatriots Tamer Tahoun and Mostafa Nagati qualified directly for the second round.

Mostapha Nagati later gave in to Germany's Peter Joppich 10-15, while Tamer Tahoun snatched a surprising win over Portugal's Joao Gomes 15-14.

Unfortunately, his progress stopped in the second round after he bumped into China's Hankiong Wu, who mauled him 15-8.
