Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The third ordinary meeting of the Preparatory Committee for National Reconciliation got underway in the town of Sebha (800 km south of Tripoli) on Wednesday.
Present were the deputy chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdallah Al-Lafi, who is in charge of reconciliation at the Presidential Council, as well as representatives of the African Union (AU) involved in the reconciliation process in this North African country which has been plagued by unrest for over a decade.
The meeting was also attended by the Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Congolese Abroad, Jean-Claude Gakosso, whose country holds the presidency of the AU High-Level Committee, the AU Advisor for National Reconciliation, Mohamed Hassan Labbat, and members of the Preparatory Committee representing all the main Libyan parties involved in the political process, according to a statement from the Presidential Council.
The deputy Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdallah Al-Lafi, and the national reconciliation delegation arrived on Wednesday morning in the town of Sebha, which is hosting the meeting for the comprehensive national reconciliation conference.
It should be noted that the African Union (AU) is supporting the national reconciliation project in Libya, and is playing a role in creating the conditions for its success, by providing technical support and advice, as well as contributing with the Libyans to the realization of this national project.
