Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophones and Congolese Abroad, Jean-Claude Gakosso, Thursday welcomed the efforts of the President of the Libyan Presidential Council to lay the foundations for reconciliation and stability in the country.
He also informed the chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, of the meeting held recently in the city of Benghazi on national reconciliation.
During Thursday's meeting in Tripoli, Mr. Gakosso, accompanied by the African Union's adviser on national reconciliation, Mohamed Hassan Labbad, conveyed the greetings of President Denis Sassou Nguesso, Chairman of the African Union's High-Level Committee, to Mr. Al-Manfi, said a statement from the Presidential Council.
The chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, according to the same source, affirmed that reconciliation was a comprehensive national path and the right way to overcome the wounds and sorrows left by conflicts.
He said it was considered to be one of the most important elements of any political settlement aimed at turning the page on the past, overcoming the causes of disagreements and divisions, and achieving restorative justice, far from vindictiveness and revenge.
It should be noted that the African Union (AU) is supporting the national reconciliation project in Libya, and is playing a role in creating the conditions for its success, by providing technical support and advice, as well as contributing with the Libyans to the realization of this national project.
