Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - A security meeting of Libya's Defence and Security Council on Wednesday discussed the task of entrusting border guards from the Army and the Ministry of the Interior with the task of securing border posts in the western region, an official statement said.
The meeting in Tripoli was attended by the Prime Minister and Defence Minister, Abdulhamid Al Dbaiba, members of the Presidential Council and heads of the security agencies.
It stressed the need for continuous monitoring of the security situation in the western region and at border points, in coordination between the relevant agencies, in order to draw up security plans that will help preserve the nation's security, stability and sovereignty, the statement by the government said.
The meeting also discussed the security and military situation in the border areas linking Libya with Tunisia and Algeria.
