Ivorian parliamentary candidates to file nomination papers from Monday

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (PANA) – Candidates for the 11 December Ivorian parliamentary election will file their papers from17-26 October, Mr. Yacouba Bamba, the vice chairman and spokesman of the Independent Electoral Committee (IEC), said on Wednesday.

He was speaking at a seminar on 100 days of the new government.

IEC Chairman, Yousssouf Bakayoko, assured his fellow countrymen, in a message for peaceful parliamentary elections, that his institution "will do all it can to take up the challenge of transparency and equity so as to put in place a parliament in conformity with the choices of voters such as expressed in the ballot boxes".

The new Ivorian parliament will comprise 255 seats from 205 constituencies.

Ivorian prime minister, Guillaume Soro, said at the opening of a seminar that it was the government's priority to give Côte d'Ivoire a parliament that confirmed the implementation of the rule of law.
