Ivorian parliament to meet in Yamoussoukro

Abidjan- Cote d'Ivoire (PANA) -- Cote d'Ivoire's National Assembly will meet Wednesday for the first time in the nation's political capital Yamoussoukro, a reliable source said Saturday in Abidjan.
The holding of the parliamentary session in Felix Houphouet- Boigny's native city followed President Laurent Gbagbo's desire to transfer some national institutions from Abidjan to Yamoussoukro, 220 km north of Abidj, the source added.
Parliament voted Yamoussoukro in 1983 as the national political capital.
Houphouet-Boigny, who changed his native village into a modern city before the decision, died 7 December 1993.
