Abidjan- Côte d'Ivoire (PANA) -- The Ivorian government would next 3 May unveil its 2000-2002 HIV/AIDS control plan of action, official sources in Abidjan said at the start of the week.
The plan was earlier last week adopted at a workshop that revised a wider 2000-2004 plan of action.
Health ministry sources said the plan, consisting of four thrusts, seeks prevention, access to treatment, research and the decentralisation of control actions.
HIV/AIDS is said to be a real hindrance to the development of Côte d'Ivoire, impacting severely on schooling, agriculture, industry and the military.
The country has one million HIV-positive cases and about 600,000 AIDS orphans.
