Ivorian Crisis: Laurent Gbagbo gets presidential treatment

Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (PANA) - President-elect of Cote d'Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, said Wednesday that former President Laurent Gbagbo, arrested Monday, has been moved from the Gold Hotel and was transferred to a villa fit for his status as a former head of state.

Ouattara also said Gbagbo's new residence was also equipped to fit his status as former president.

Speaking at a press conference here, Ouattara, said Gbagbo was a former head of state and "we must treat him with consideration and respect his rights".

Only on Tuesday, the Ivorian Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Mr. Hans-Ahoussou Kouadio, had said that Gbagbo and his family were under house arrest pending the opening of the judicial proceedings.
