International Colloquium on Economic Journalism in August

Cotonou- Benin (PANA) -- An international seminar on the challenges and stakes of economic journalism in West Africa will be held 5-12 August in Cotonou, its organisers announced Monday.
About 60 journalists and researchers from 20 countries will take part in the colloquium which aims at setting up a continental network for coverage of economic issues in Africa.
The network, according to Francois Laibi, administrative secretary of the Beninese network of economic journalists (réseau-JEB) who initiated the project, would serve as an exchange forum on the Internet for economic information and data from various countries.
Set up in 1996, Réseau-JEB provides training for journalists on economic issues.
With support of the UN Development Programme and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation of Germany, every year it focuses on a subject for publication in form of a book based on current affairs.
