International AIDS conference ends in Dakar

Dakar- Senegal (PANA) -- The 15th International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) in Africa rounded off in Dakar on Sunday, with participants recommending more efforts and resources to further contain the HIV/AIDS pandemic on the continent.
The over 7,000 delegates to the five-day conference also recommended more leadership role from across the board, including parliaments, judiciaries; the military, communities and the private sector.
The participants further noted the crucial role played by universities and the scientific community in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa, but noted that such bodies need to have their capacities strengthened.
