ICC issues Gbagbo arrest warrant (Corrected)

Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (PANA) - The Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for former president of Cote d'Ivoire Laurent Gbagbo for war crimes, following a brief but bloody civil war in the West African state after last year's disputed presidential election results.

The former president was captured in April in the fighting with his bitter rival, Alassane Ouattara, who has since been sworn-in as president. Former president Gbagbo was held in the northern town of Korhogo. He is also being for economic crimes.

Meanwhile reports say he is being flown to the Hague for trial by the ICC, whose chief prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo visited Cote d'Ivoire last month to investigate the post-election violence.

About 6 people are being investigated and Ocampo has promised fairness.
