Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Manfi, has praised the role of the African Union (AU) in supporting the Libyan-led reconciliation project, underlining the continental body's continued support for everything that helps to achieve a comprehensive and inclusive reconciliation.
This was the outcome of a meeting held on Friday at the headquarters of the Libyan Presidential Council in Tripoli between Mr al-Manfi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophones and Congolese Abroad, Jean-Claude Gakosso, and the African Union's adviser on national reconciliation, Mohamed Hassan Labbat, according to a statement from the Presidential Council.
The AU is supporting the National Reconciliation Project and is playing a role in creating the conditions for its success with technical support and advice.
The delegation informed the chairman of the Libyan Council of the results of the meeting of the preparatory committee for the reconciliation conference held over the last two days in the southern city of Sebha.
It indicated that members of the committee agreed that the conference would be held in Sirte, 450 km east of Tripoli, on 28 April.
The delegation praised the chairman's role in facilitating the many outstanding issues and in advancing the path of reconciliation.
