Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The deputy Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdallah al-Lafi, on Monday discussed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Congolese Abroad, Jean-Claude Gakosso, whose country chairs the African Union's High-Level Committee on the Libyan issue, the challenges and obstacles that have led to the postponement of the inclusive National Conference.
During the with Mr Gakosso in Tripoli, in the presence of the African Union's (AU) adviser on reconciliation, Mohamed Hassan Labat, and the Congolese ambassador to Libya, Mr al-Lafi stressed the importance of restoring confidence between all the parties.
He said that the Presidential Council is the legitimate umbrella and not the leader of the national reconciliation project, according to a statement from the Presidential Council.
He praised the role of the African Union Commission and the Republic of Congo in the search for a comprehensive solution to the Libyan crisis, in particular the issue of national reconciliation, which will make it possible to establish a new phase of stability and peace in Libya.
The Congolese minister in turn stressed the importance of overcoming the causes of the hesitant efforts to continue working on the reconciliation dossier and to make the right to an inclusive national conference a reality.
The inclusive national reconciliation conference, which was due to be held under the aegis of the African Union in Sirte on 28 April, was postponed due to divisions between Libyan leaders.
