Bidding process for 2018 Commonwealth Games starts

 

Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) has started the bidding process for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, with the release of the 2018 Candidate City Manual.

CGF said in a statement obtained by PANA here that the document had been sent to all 70 Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs).

The CGAs and Candidature Cities have until 31 March 2010 to notify the CGF of th eir intention to bid for the 21st edition of the games.

However, the final bids will be expected to be lodged by 11 May 2011, six months ahead of CGF General Assembly to be held at St Kitts and Nevis, where the host of the 2018 Commonwealth Games will be named.

Nigeria, which lost the bid to host the 2014 games to Glasgow, Scotland, is expe cted to bid for the 2018 games.

New Delhi, India, will host the 2010 edition of the games.
