African-Asian Rural Development Organisation calls for poverty reduction

 

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The 59th session of the executive committee of the Afric an-Asian Rural Development Organisation has ended in Tripoli with a call for the

implementation of development policies to reduce poverty.

The participants, who ended their deliberations on Friday, called for policies t hat would remove the spectre of famine threatening developing countries and to f u lly exploit natural resources to achieve food security.

They also highlighted the need to place climate change, drought and desertificat ion on the priorities of the programme of the organisation.

The executive committee of the Organisation called for the reinforcement of the relations with international institutions, such as the African Union, to widen t h e basis of its activities â?so as to bring together more African and Asian count ries and profit from the technical and financial means of these institutions".
