Zimbabwe gets new airline

Harare, Zimbabwe (PANA) - A new airline, Vicfalls Airways, has been set up in Zi mbabwe to tap into growing domestic and regional travel business, officials said Tuesday.

This is the second private airline to be set up in the country since the beginni ng of the year.

Until now, Zimbabwe had one airline, state-owned Air Zimbabwe.

Masiwa Table, a director of Vicfalls Airways, said the airline had secured plane s, including B767-300ER aircraft, and was scheduled to start operating in November.

He said apart from domestic routes, the airline would fly to Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa and Zambia.

"This is an opportune time for us to start trading. The World Cup (in South Afri ca) tournament is around the corner and the global financial crisis seems to be abating, making market entry less difficult," he said.

Eventually, Table said, Victfalls Airways would cover international routes such as Dubai and the United Kingdom.
