Facilitating return of Turkish airline to Libya discussed in Tripoli
Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the National Unity Government (GNU), Najla al-Mangouch, on Sunday met in Tripoli with the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Kanaan Yilmaz, on the facilitation of the return of Turkish Airlines to Libya.
Since the installation of the GNU in March 2021 and the gradual return of stability and security, several airlines have resumed flights to Libya after their departure in 2014 in the wake of the deteriorating security following clashes between rival armed groups and the destruction of Tripoli International Airport.
During the meeting, al-Mangouch and Yilmaz also discussed ways to develop and strengthen cooperation and support for economic cooperation, a Foreign Ministry statement said.
For his part, the Turkish ambassador expressed his country's full support for the GNU and the foreign ministry in their efforts to support the democratic process leading to elections and to strengthen stability in all regions.
In another development, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation received the Maltese ambassador to Libya, Charles Saliba, with whom she discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations and ways to support economic cooperation and facilitate the return of Air Malta airline to Libya.
The Maltese ambassador for his part expressed his country's full support to the GNU and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in efforts to support the democratic process leading to the elections and to strengthen stability.
