Zambian government warns against disruption of OAU summit

Lusaka- Zambia (PANA) -- The Zambian government has issued a stern warning to anyone planning to disrupt the OAU summit scheduled slated for 9-11 July in Lusaka.
Zambia's Information minister and government spokesperson Vernon Mwaanga said that hosting the summit was an honour not only for the ruling party but the nation as a whole.
He was reacting to reports that some NGOs and opposition political parties were planning to disrupt the event.
The National Organisation for Civic Education charged that youths from the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND), the Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) and the United National Independence Party (UNIP) were planning demonstrations against the OAU confab.
Mwaanga said that security during the summit would be tight, with some areas being no-go places for Zambians themselves, so as to allow foreign dignitaries ample freedom and security.
