Zambia: Zambia to host 2017 COSAFA U-20 Cup

Lusaka, Zambia (PANA) – Zambia has been picked for the first time to host the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) U-20 Championship Cup at the end of the year, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) confirmed in Lusaka on Tuesday.

“The Football Association of Zambia is pleased to announce that it will host the 2017 COSAFA U-20 Youth Championship,” FAZ spokesperson Desmond Katongo said.

Katongo said FAZ has since written to COSAFA to confirm the exact dates of the tournament that is usually held in December every year.

“Zambia are the reigning champions after having won the tournament in South Africa in 2016.”

Zambia beat hosts South Africa 2-1 in the final on 16 December 2016 year in Rustenberg, South Africa, to collect an unprecedented 11th COSAFA U-20 Cup title.
