Women of the AU Commission support President Félix Tshisekedi's concern for Agenda 2063

Kinshasa, DR Congo (PANA) - The women of the African Union Commission have expressed their support to the current chairman of the African Union (AU), DR Congo President Felix Tshisekedi, for making the development of Agenda 2063 his priority.

According to a statement from the communication unit of the DR Congo presidency on Saturday, Michelle H.N. Ndiaye, head of the delegation, also welcomed the achievements already made by DR Congo in the process of advancing the cause of women in Africa.

The women praising the many projects implemented under the leadership of the President Tshisekedi, including the one related to the concept of "Positive Masculinity", a new approach which aims to defend the social status of African women.

Mrs. Ndiaye said they had informed President Tshisekedi of their main concern, which is the concretization of his commitment to carry out the Agenda 2063.

"What we really want is to engage men, especially the leaders of the continent, to consider this agenda as a priority," said Michelle Ndiaye.

She also called for the eradication of gender-based violence which, she said, "can only be possible with the help of men".

Agenda 2063 calls for a more inclusive society in which all citizens are actively involved in decision-making.

Aspiration 6 of the Agenda calls for "an Africa whose development is based on the potential of African people, especially women and youth, and which takes care of children".
