West Africa police chiefs to meet in Lome

Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - Members of the Technical Sub-Committees of the West Africa Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO) are due to meet in Lome, Togo 21-23 March to prepare WAPCCO’s Annual General Assembly meeting, and discuss general policing issues in the region, an ECOWAS Commission statement made available to PANA here Friday said.

The gathering, the first of two preparatory meetings before the General Assembly, will be attended by representatives of ECOWAS Member States and officials of the ECOWAS Commission to encourage and stimulate discussions on the challenges of policing
in West Africa.

Topics for discussion will include Crime Trends in West Africa, Joint or Simultaneous Police Operations and Joint Operations on Drug in West Africa, as well as the implementation of recommendations of the INTERPOL international and regional meetings by West
African countries.

The Commission said the outcome of the meeting will feed into the second preparatory meeting of the sub-technical committees ahead of the WAPCCO Annual General Assembly.
