Wade throws challenge on HIV prevention in Africa

Dakar- Senegal (PANA) -- President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal has called on HIV/AIDS activists to do more towards preventing further spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa, while stressing the importance and need of house-to-house sensitization campaign among communities.
The Senegalese leader threw the challenge Wednesday at the opening of a 5-day HIV/AIDS conference organised under the auspices of 'Society Against AIDS in Africa.
' President Wade said there was an urgent need for more action and less conferences in the efforts to contain the devastation of HIV/AIDS on the African continent.
According to him, the AIDS pandemic has posed great challenge for all.
The Senegalese President further called for a 'multi-sectoral approach' which would take into account a clear understanding of sexual behaviour of people and integrated treatment programmes, among others.
