Wade refuses to back Diouf for Francophonie post

Paris- France (PANA) -- Senegal's President Abdoulaye Wade has stated that he would not support a bid by his predecessor, Abdou Diuof, to head the International Organisation of the Francophonie during the body's summit in Beirut, Lebanon.
"Mr Diouf is not my candidate.
I am not obliged to sponsor him.
If I am to support a candidacy, it will be somebody else," said the Senegalese President Friday at a press breakfast in Paris.
"If heads of State decide to elect him I will not oppose their decision," the Senegalese news agency quoted Wade as saying.
The Senegalese president said that for a moment he contemplated to back Henry Lopes of Congo.
"I have nothing against Mr Diouf, people should not suspect me" of harbouring feelings of revenge.
The incumbent IOF secretary general, Boutros Boutros-Ghali of Egypt is seeking re-election.
Ambassador Henri Lopes of Congo is the other aspiring candidate
