Wade, Blazy to discuss Paris, Dakar HIV/AIDS project

Paris- France (PANA) -- Enhanced cooperation between France and Senegal in the fight against HIV/AIDS will highlight discussions when Senegalese president Abdoulaye Wade and French health minister Philippe Douste Blazy meet in Dakar shortly, official sources said here Tuesday.
Anne-Cécile di Borgo, spokesperson of the French cooperation department, said during his visit to Senegal the minister would outline conditions for cooperation on HIV/AIDS under the World Trade Organisation drugs accord of 30 August 2003.
She said France could deliver "free" patents for generic drug production to Senegal under a cooperation framework that could become a "pilot" and an "example" for the rest of Africa.
Global HIV/AIDS watchers have regularly cited Uganda and Senegal as examples in efforts to combat AIDS in Africa, where the majority of persons living with ailment live.
