WB lends Mali US$6m for HIV/AIDS control

Bamako- Mali (PANA) -- The World Bank Board Thursday approved a US$6-million loan to Mali as additional funding for the country's Multi-sectoral HIV/AIDS Con trol Project (MAP), the World Bank said in a statement made available to PANA Fr i day in Bamako.
The additional funding follows a request from the Malian government for increase d assistance to enhance the progress made towards achieving the development obje c tive of the current project, initially approved in June 2004 for US$25.

The project will directly contribute to supporting multi-sectoral efforts by Mal ian authorities to stop the spread of the HIV/AIDS epidemic by improving access to prevention, treatment and care, in particular for the most exposed sections of the population and peo p le infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
