WB, Gambia partner on nutrition

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - World Bank’s senior official in charge of nutrition matters Menno Mulder Sibanba has met Gambian Vice-President Isatou Njie-Saidy in the nation's capital, Banjul, in a bid to strengthen partnership on nutrition between the bank and the country.

After the meeting, the World Bank official told reporters that the partnership on nutrition was geared towards targeting some 1000 communities in the West African nation.

“The Gambian government has requested the bank’s partnership and we have been able to respond since 2009,” he said.

According to him, the bank is working with Gambia’s National Nutrition Agency (NaNA) and, together, they are trying to strength and scale up “policy development” on nutrition and related matters.

He said over time, they would have “integrated services at community levels” and that new approaches would be devised to tackle issues that affect women and children.
