Uganda to compensate families of bomb blast victims

Kampala- Uganda (PANA) -- Uganda has announced a compensation package for the fam ilies of the victims of Sunday's bomb attacks that left over 70 dead and many more injured in Kampala.
According to the package which was announced by the Minister for Disaster Prepar edness, Prof.
Parsis Kabwegyere, Wednesday night, every family that lost any member to the bomb blasts will get 5 million Uganda Shillings (US$2,219) while every family with any injured member will get 3 million Uganda Shillings (US$1,331).
The beneficiaries are expected to get the government's package next week, the Mi nister said.
The blasts tore through a crowd of football fans while they were watching the fi nal of the 2010 FIFA World Cup at two centres in the Ugandan capital city.
Somali militant group Al-Shabab, which is linked to the terrorist group Al-Qaeda , has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
