US official makes another effort to end the Sudanese war

Washington, DC, US (PANA) - As the bloody war in Sudan rages on, the Special Envoy for Sudan Tom Perriello has left Washington for Uganda, Kenya, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia to meet with key regional partners to advance efforts to end the conflict and avert further mass atrocities.

His mission will also address the immediate and dire humanitarian needs of the Sudanese people, and map a path toward a transition to a civilian-led democratic government, a press release from the Office of the Spokesperson for the Us Department of State said in Washington, DC, on Monday.

It said the Special Envoy would meet with partner governments to coordinate diplomatic efforts to resume negotiations, build pressure needed to protect civilians and silence the guns, and facilitate a transition to a civilian-led democratic government.

"He will also meet with a broad range of Sudanese civilians, including civil society, resistance committees, local response networks, women, youth, grassroots organizations, and other parties to hear their perspectives on how to bolster efforts to end the conflict," the press release said.
