UNICEF's Salah visits Kinshasa

Kinshasa- DR Congo (PANA) -- UNICEF regional director for Western and Central Africa, Rima Salah arrived Wednesday in Kinshasa to participate in the official launching of the National Immunisation Days (NID 2001) in Central Africa.
According to a UNICEF release, Congo, Gabon, Angola and the DR Congo will carry out immunisation programmes against poliomyelitis for children under five years of age 5-9 July.
UNICEF said the NIDs mark a crucial stage in the fight against poliomyelitis, an illness that still causes considerable damage among children in Africa and the world.
Salah will remain in Kinshasa 4-6 July in order to support the vaccination programme, UNICEF said.
