UNOCI condemns attack on FPI headquarters

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (PANA) - The United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) has “strongly” condemned the violent incidents that occurred Saturday at the headquarters of the country's former ruling Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) party in Cocody, a district of Abidjan.

In a statement, UNOCI described the storming and ransacking of the headquarters by yet unknown people - which left two persons injured - as ''regrettable'', especially since the acts occurred when the Ivorian nation needs all assistance to kick-start a long-awaited dialogue to achieve genuine reconciliation.

The UN mission reiterated its urgent appeal for calm in this sensitive period in the history of the country, while urging the Ivorian government to spare no effort to identify and punish the perpetrators.
