UNMEE discusses Ethiopia-Eritrea peace process

Addis Ababa- Ethiopia (PANA) -- The 9th Military Coordination Commission (MCC) meeting of the UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE) held Monday in Djibouti, with the Eritrean delegation challenging minutes of the 8th MCC meeting, on an item concerning the map of the Temporary Security Zone (TSZ).
A statement following the meeting further said the Eritrean delegation was also intransigent over allowing UNMEE forces free movement within the TSZ as provided for by the Algiers Peace Agreement that ended the border war between Ethiopia and Eritrea.
It said UNMEE Force Commander Maj.
-Gen.
Patrick Camaeret urged the Eritrean delegation to restrain Eritrean police and militia from creating security problems along the southern border of the TSZ.
According to the statement, the two parties agreed in principle to the establishment of a committee of representatives from both sides as well as the OAU and the UN to work out a mechanism for the collection of bodies and to oversight of the clearing operation.
