UNDP to fund Guinea-Bissau's voter registration

Bissau- Guinea-Bissau (PANA) -- The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) h as granted the Guinea-Bissau's National Institute of Statistics (INEC) 545.
8 mil l ion cfa for its voter registration.
An agreement to this effect was signed Monday in Bissau between the UNDP represe ntative Celestin Tsassa and the INEC director Carlos da Costa.
"INEC will recruit and train voter registration officers, provide logistics, col lect registers and carry out checks in constituencies," according to the documen t .
Under the government's agenda, the registration will take place from 3-23 July.
Guinea-Bissau needs about 4 billion cfa for its parliamentary elections slated for 16 November.
