UN special rapporteur on racism visits Mauritania

Nouakchott- Mauritania (PANA) -- The UN special rapporteur on racism, racial disc rimination, xenophobia and intolerance, Doudou Diène, arrived here Sunday on a f i ve-day working visit, an NGO, Help to Widows and Orphans of Mauritanian Soldiers said in a statement Monday.
Diène will hold talks with Mauritanian government officials, the civil society, religious and political leaders, as well as representatives of UN agencies.
The visit will assess the situation of racism, racial discrimination and intoler ance.
Diène is expected to submit a draft report to the UN Human Rights' Commission in March.
