UN mission in Libya reaffirms commitment to the people

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The acting head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Raisedon Zenenga, on Wednesday reiterated the mission's commitment to the Libyan people and supporting the country on its path to peace, stability, and prosperity.

This was contained in a statement on the third anniversary of the 10 August 2019 attack on a UN team in eastern city of Benghazi that killed three staff members and injured two others.

In a statement, Zenenga said: "Our thoughts are with the families of our colleagues who made sacrifices in this heinous attack. I also pay tribute to the courage and steadfastness of our colleagues who survived and continued to perform their duty under the UN flag.

A car bomb attack targeted a convoy of UN staff in Libya as it drove through the city on that day.
