UN deputy chief to address AU summit in Libya

New York- US (PANA) -- UN Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro, will addres s the 13th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU), scheduled for 1-3 July, in Sirte, Libya.
A UN spokesperson Yves Sorokobi, told PANA in New York, on Tuesday, that Migiro would deliver the address on behalf of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
He said "Ms.
Migiro will address the opening session of the Assembly on the Summ it's theme -- "Investing in Agriculture for Economic Growth and Food Security''.
He said that the UN deputy secretary-general would also conduct bilateral meetin gs with delegations from various African nations and other multilateral organisa t ions.
Migiro is expected back in New York on 3 July.
The 53-member AU was established in 2002, to replace the Organisation of Africa n Unity (OAU) and it seeks to promote the socio-economic integration of the cont i nent, as well as greater unity between the countries and peoples of Africa.
