UN approves 1.2 billion dollars for Darfur peacekeeping

Khartoum- Sudan (PANA) -- The UN has approved a budget of 1.
2 billion Dollars for preparations for the peacekeeping force in Darfur for 2008.
According to Sudanese sources on Monday, the approval was made on Saturday.
They quoted the Sudan Ambassador to UN, Abdel Mahmoud Abdel Haleem as saying the UN General Assembly stressed that the mandate of the hybrid operation was to support the implementation of Darfur peace agreement.
He was also quoted as saying that the UN General Assembly denounced the UN Secretariat for awarding an American company with the concession for the hybrid operation logistics infrastructure without soliciting a formal bid according to the UN rules.
