UN Secretary General's rep. meets Guinea president

Conakry, Guinea (PANA) - The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and head of the UN Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mahamat Saleh Anadif, has said had "fruitful talks" on Monday in Conakry with the Guinean Head of State, Alpha Condé, on the sub-regional situation.

Appointed to his post on 26 March, Anadif, a Chadian national, explained that he had come to introduce himself to his "big brother", to receive his guidance and advice in his new mission.

"I will put the advice given by my big brother in my roadmap to better appreciate the problems of the sub-region," he said, before specifying that the first stage of his tour was Accra, Ghana.

Mr. Annadif, who did not provide details on the advice and guidance given by his host, then met with the new Secretary of the Permanent Framework for Political and Social Dialogue, the former Minister of State, Fodé Bangoura.

Mr. Annadif, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chad (1997-2003) spent five years at the head of the United Nations Integrated Mission for the Stabilisation of Mali (MINUSMA), which he left recently to join his new post in Dakar, Senegal.
