Tunji Awojobi quits Nigeria's basket-ball squad

Luanda- Angola (PANA) -- Nigeria's basketball star Tunji Awojobi Here late Friday he would no longer play for his national team in order "to give priority" to the youth.
Speaking at news conference at the end of the league match which Nigeria won against Tunisia 83-82, Tunji said it was time to leave the squad and give priority to younger players.
"There are many talents in my country and it's time to give them a chance for me to become an advisor for these youths entering the main national selections," he stressed.
Noting he would now serve his club in Israel, he, however, pledged to "always be available" to transfer his knowledge if called upon.
As for Nigeria's fifth place in the 2007 Afrobasket, Tunji revealed he was proud of the way his teammates played.
"If they were weak, they would have not fought for the fifth place as the initial aim was to reach the final and depose the Angolans," he said.
