Tunisian youth associations demonstrate against racism

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - Several youths from about 30 associations and non-governmental organizations in Tunisia gathered on Saturday in front of the municipal theatre on Bourguiba avenue in Tunis to denounce racism suffered for decades by African Americans, whose latest act was the death of George Floyd, killed by a white police officer during his arrest.

The protesters called for the eradication of racism in the world and in Tunisia as well, and for solidarity between all social categories, regardless of their origin, colour and sex.

They insisted, waving banners, on the need to go beyond symbolic slogans and sit-ins in actions to combat racial discrimination.

For them, the rejection of racism by Tunisians must be a practice in daily life and in their relationship with minorities living in the country.
