Tunisia's Ben Ali calls for strengthening of education in La Francophonie

Tunis- Tunisia (PANA) -- Tunisian president Zine El Abidine on Saturday called fo r the strengthening of co-operation in education within la francophonie, saying t his represented "a considerable stake for member states which profit from the us e of the French language and sharing of skills and the knowledge".
In an address at La Francophonie Summit in Quebec made public in Tunis, the Tuni sian head of state, whose speech was read by his Prime Minister, Mohamed Ghannou c hi, said he was convinced that the multiple challenges facing the world could be overcome only "in a spirit of dialogue and solidarity".
In this context, he called for the implementation of the World Solidarity Funds (WSF), a project initiated by Tunisia and adopted in 2002 by the General Assembl y of the United Nations, aimed at fighting against poverty in the world, especial l y in impoverished regions.
Indicating that the phenomenon of globalization tends "to sacrifice cultural and linguistic diversities in the name of pragmatism and efficiency", he pressed th e International Organization of Francophonie (OIF), which brings together France a nd its former colonies, to tackle the promotion of a profitable partnership betw e en its various cultural components, to adapt to scientific and technological pro g ress of the time.
