Tunisia: EU blacklists Libyan airlines

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) – The European Commission for Transport has banned Libyan airlines from using European airports for safety reasons.

The European Commissioner for Transport, Violeta Bulc, on Thursday expressed regret about the inability of the Libya civil aviation to honour its international commitments in the domain of air transport safety.

Commenting on the decision of the European Commission to put Libyan airlines on the black list, Mrs Bulc said: "Seeing the latest developments of events prevailing in the country, those airlines cannot ensure the security of the passengers, which is for us the first priority."

The European Union asked the blacklisted airlines to cooperate with it to improve their level of safety and security.
