Tunisia: Brazzaville to host AU air transport commission assembly

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) – The African Union air transport branch will hold its general assembly on 8-10 November in Brazzaville, Congo, its Director in charge of trading and industrial cooperation, Kusseï El-Murabit, said on Thursday in Tunis.

The general assembly, to be held under the theme, "Open skies: Growth through competition and collaboration" will focus on the policy meant to encourage member countries to ratify the Yamoussoukro Declaration on the liberalization of African air spaces between the countries of the continent, according to Mr El-Murabit.

The participants will particularly look at the liberalization of African air spaces which will have positive impacts on the economies of African countries, he said.

The African Union of air transport brings together 45 African airlines, as well as about 100 industrial partners, including plane manufacturers and motorists, consultants and high-tech service providers, in addition to several governments, airport and international organization representatives.

Set up in 1964, it has the mission to encourage and help African airlines in the development of their air transport services and promote inter-connectivity to establish  maximum of intra-African flights.
