Tunisia: 'Tunisia airspace now open to flights from Libya'

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – The Tunisian authorities have decided to reopen the Tunisian air space to flights from Libyan airports in Maitigua, Misrata, Labreg and Tobrouk, Libyan media reported on Sunday, quoting official Tunisian sources.

The decision follows the completion of a technical study by a committee of the Tunisian ministries of Transports, Interior and Defence, after an inspection visit by a delegation from the Tunisian civil aviation last week to the Misrata airport to evaluate the security situation there, the sources said.

The Tunisian airports will act as transit points for Libyans wishing to travel abroad as most foreign airlines have suspended their flights to and from Libya because of insecurity.

Libyan airports are regularly targeted in bombardments.
