Togolese club, Dyto, wins WAFU Cup

Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - Togolese club, Dyto, has won the 26th edition of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup after beating Gamtel of Gambia 2-1 in the final on Sunday in Lome, the Togolese capital.

According a Confederation of African Football (CAF) media outlet, monitored from here Monday, hosts Dyto confirmed their dominance into goals to ease past the debuting Gambians for their first ever triumph in the annual championship.

In the third-place match, Rangers International of Enugu, Nigeria, beat Horoya of Guinea 13-12 on penalties after the tie ended 1-1 in regulation time.

To get to the finals, Dyto beat Rangers 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 scoreline at the end regulation time while Gamtel beat Horoya 4-3 also on penalties after a 2-2 tie.

The annual club championship, christened “Eyadema Cup” in honour of the former Togolese President, features clubs within the West African sub-region.
