Togo backs Boutros Ghali for re-election

Lome- Togo (PANA) -- Togo will support Boutros Boutros Ghali's bid for re-election as Secretary-General of the Francophonie organisation, Togolese Foreign Minister Panou Koffi has announced in Lome.
He told a press conference Monday that Togo's decision was based on the candidate's competence and efficiency.
"We know Boutros Ghali very well.
We know what good he can do.
We know and highly appreciate his commitment to serving the Francophonie and his courage in defending the interests of Francophone States," Panou added.
Boutros Ghali, an Egyptian, was a former UN Secretary-General.
Panou said that Togo's decision to back his re-election also followed a request by the Egyptian government.
