Lomé, Togo (PANA) - The Togolese government has introduced the payment of tax by air travellers, for the development of airport infrastructure, an official source told PANA here Saturday.
The yet-to-be-fixed tax amount, which will come into effect soon, will be used by the Togolese government for the rehabilitation and modernisation of the Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport, the construction of a new terminal and a new airport that meets international standards.
According to the government, airline companies operating in the country have already agreed to the introduction of the tax, which conforms with the document on Policy of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
