Switzerland: '382 health-care workers die from Ebola pandemic'

Geneva, Switzerland (PANA) - The ongoing Ebola pandemic in West Africa has claimed the lives of 382 health-care workers (HCWs), out of a total of 678 HCWs who were infected as at the end of December 2014, according to the latest figures from the World Health Organisation (WHO).

HCWs have been infected within and outside the epicentre of the pandemic in West Africa, especially in Spain, UK and the US.

The highest number of deaths of HCWs has been recorded in Liberia, with 178, followed by 110 in Sierra Leone and 87 from Guinea.

PANA reports that overall, 7,905 deaths have been recorded from a total of 20,206 cases of Ebola in nine countries, most of them in West Africa.
