Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - Suspected Boko Haram members have burnt two more schools in the sect's home base of Maiduguri, capital of northern Borno state, bringing to seven the number of schools burnt by the sect in the past week, according to local media reports here Friday.
On Wednesday night, Success Secondary School and Sunshine Star Primary School became the latest schools to be razed by the sect, which is perhaps living up to its name which translates to 'Western education is sin' in English.
No one was killed in both schools, but their 350 pupils and their teachers were left without a school.
Sunshine Star Primary School headmaster Bachilu Mai Basha said the schools were bombed they were set ablaze
Borno state police spokesman Samuel Tizhe confirmed the attack, saying; “We received the reports of the attacks and burning of the two schools this afternoon from the Abaganaram police command area.''
At least five primary schools have earlier been burnt in the city in the past week by suspected Islamist members.
The schools were listed as Gomari Costain Primary School, the Maiduguri Experimental School, Kwanar Yobe; the Budum and Kulo Gomna Primary Schools as well as the Abba Ganaram Primary School, all in the Borno state capital.
