Sudanese President al-Bashir heads to Beijing

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir will lead his country’s delegation to the China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC) to be held in Beijing next week, it was officially announced here Friday.

The summit, expected to bring together top officials from 51 African nations under the theme ‘China and Africa: Toward an Even Stronger Community with a Shared Future through Win-Win Cooperation’.

African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres are also due to attend the summit along with heads of regional and international organizations.
Bashir is scheduled to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping before the official opening of the summit to review bilateral work within the framework of the strategic partnership agreement signed during his recent visit to Beijing.

According to Awad al-Jazz, deputy chair of the supreme committee on the supervision of Sudan’s cooperation with BRICS countries and a member of the delegation, President Bashir will visit one of the Chinese provinces in the context of twinning with Sudanese states.

The Sudanese delegation will include Minister of the Presidency Fadl Abdullah Fadl, Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity Moatez Moussa and Minister of State for the Presidency Hatem Hassan Bakhit.

An advance party of the Sudanese delegation already in Beijing includes Finance Minister Mohamed Osman al-Rikabi, Minister of Oil and Gas Azhari Abdul-Qadir, Minister of Transport Makkawi Mohammed al-Awad and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Osama Faisal.
